Terms, privacy, refunds and risk.
What you are buying, and from whom.
The contracting party is Atma Clarity LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States (Entity ID 2026-002024411), registered office 30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801. “Atma Clarity” is its brand; “Institute” is descriptive and denotes no accredited or degree-granting status.
What we supply is education in a method: structured instruction, guided practice and individual sessions, delivered online or in person over a defined period. We supply no medical, psychological or therapeutic service of any kind, and we make no health, clinical or performance claims.
Admission is by application. A place exists only once we have accepted your application in writing. We may decline any application, and where we do, nothing is payable and anything paid is returned in full.
Payment is by deposit and balance. The deposit secures the place; the balance falls due a defined number of days before the programme begins. We do not take the full fee up front. Delivery dates are stated before payment.
Your obligations. Answer the screening honestly, tell us if your health changes before the programme begins, and observe the confidentiality of other participants. Disclosure never costs you money: if you tell us about a change in your health and we then decline or you withdraw, you are refunded in full.
Materials remain our intellectual property and are licensed to you for personal use. Confidentiality is mutual — and one-directional in one respect: nothing you sign restricts your ability to review, criticise or publicly describe the Institute.
Liability, force majeure and disputes. Our liability is limited as set out in the full Terms, save where the law does not permit limitation — nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Where a programme cannot proceed for reasons outside our control, the force majeure provisions apply and a minimum refund floor is guaranteed. Governing law is Wyoming. Consumers in the EU and the UK retain the rights their local law gives them regardless of anything in these Terms.
We collect health information. That changes everything about how it is handled.
Controller: Atma Clarity LLC. Contact for all data matters: privacy@atmaclarity.com.
What we collect. Contact and billing details; the content of your application; your responses to the health and history screening; and, if you take part, your responses to validated psychological instruments administered before and after the programme.
The screening and instrument responses are health data. Under the GDPR they are likely to be special category data under Article 9. We process them on the basis of your explicit, separate consent — a distinct opt-in, never bundled into acceptance of the Terms, and withdrawable at any time. They are held in an access-restricted store, available to a small number of named people, with access logged.
What we never do with them. We do not send health data to marketing tools. We do not use it for advertising. We run no advertising or marketing cookies of any kind on this site. We do not share it with any other company — including Atma Retreats Ltd, which is a separate company with separate records.
Retention. Screening data is deleted 90 days after a programme ends, or 12 months after a declined application. Identifiable instrument responses are deleted at 12 months; only de-identified aggregate remains, and that aggregate is never published as evidence that our programmes work.
Your rights. Access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. Write to privacy@atmaclarity.com. Residents of the EU, the UK and California have specific statutory rights, set out in full in the Privacy Policy, and may complain to their supervisory authority.
Processors. We use third parties for payments, email, scheduling and hosting. Each is bound by a written data-processing agreement. The current list is available on request.
Fourteen days, unconditional, everything back.
Every participant has an unconditional right to cancel within 14 days of enrolment and receive a full refund of everything paid, including the deposit. No reason is required and none will be asked for.
We give this to everyone, everywhere, regardless of whether the law where you live requires it — because an unsettled point of consumer law should not change what a customer actually receives.
Separately, consumers in the EU and the UK have a statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days, subject to the exceptions that apply to dated event services. Where it applies, we honour it, and a model withdrawal form is provided at checkout.
After that window, refundability reduces on a published sliding scale as the programme date approaches, because places are held and commitments are made on your behalf. The full schedule is shown in its entirety at checkout, before you pay — not behind a link.
If we cancel, you receive a full refund or a transfer, at your choice. Where a programme cannot proceed for reasons outside anyone's control, a guaranteed minimum refund applies.
Transfers to a later date are free with sufficient notice, and any credit issued remains valid for two years and is transferable.
If we decline your application, or if you disclose a change in your health and cannot proceed, everything paid is returned in full.
Before raising a dispute with your bank, please write to disputes@atmaclarity.com. Almost everything resolves within a day.
Intensive work with attention is not risk-free, and the numbers are larger than this field usually admits.
In a 2025 study of a representative sample of 886 US meditators, 58.4% reported an adverse effect, 31.4% an experience they found challenging, difficult or distressing, and 9.1% that the effects interfered with daily life (Van Dam et al., Clinical Psychological Science, 13(3)).
In a randomised trial in which independent assessors conducted a 44-item structured interview, 83% of participants reported at least one side effect, 37% a negative impact on functioning, and 6–14% effects lasting a month or longer (Britton et al., 2021, Clinical Psychological Science, 9(6), 1185–1204).
Attendance at a residential retreat is a specific, repeatedly measured risk factor — it was the strongest predictor of functional impairment in the 2025 representative sample.
What this means for you in practice: every applicant is screened, exclusion criteria are written down rather than applied at discretion, a clinical adviser is reachable during programmes, and you may stop at any point without explanation or penalty. Screening reduces this risk. It does not remove it.
The full Informed Consent and Risk Disclosure is provided before enrolment and must be read and accepted. It is written to be read, not to be clicked past. The complete evidence picture — including what the research does not support — is published at Evidence and limits.
Published verbatim.
